Welcome to Switalski Eye Care
Dedicated to Improving Patients’ Vision and Quality of Life

As the premier center for treating complex vision problems and for providing vision therapy, we see patients arrive from all over Illinois and far beyond. We are known for our excellence in testing, diagnosing, and treating vision problems especially in our three main focuses below.

VISION THERAPY

Your child (or even you) may have 20/20 vision with glasses, but something is still not right. Poor visual skills often obstruct one’s ability to succeed in school, work, and sports. Vision therapy can effectively develop the specific vision skills holding children back, thus offering the best opportunities to increase reading levels, enhance comprehension, maintain longer attention spans, and even improve sports performance.

NEURO-OPTOMETRY

Get a personalized rehabilitation treatment regimen if you have visual deficits resulting from concussions, physical disabilities, or other neurological issues, such as a stroke. This often disrupts the connection between the brain, the eyes (eye teaming, focusing, and tracking) and the balance system (vertigo, dizziness). Therapy will enable you to resynchronize the visual system and help you reclaim your life.

MYOPIA CONTROL

With the global rise of myopia cases, shortsightedness is, unfortunately, becoming the new normal. This is concerning, since high myopia is associated with a heightened risk of eye disease later in life, such as macular degeneration, cataracts, and retinal detachment. Our uniquely effective myopia management helps children stop or slow their myopia progression, offering them a heightened quality of life.

5 stars

I had a great experience. I was able to get a last minute appointment even with a long waiting list. The team at the reception was really friendly and helpful. The technicians and the eye doctor really take the time to explain to you every detail for the exam. Overall, I had a great first impression!

CARDS CROP 1 3

Poor visual skills may cause children and adults to struggle with reading, writing, and concentrating throughout the day. When the eyes and brain learn to work together, visual function improves and struggles are alleviated.

CARDS CROP 2 3

Vision Therapy for children with special needs tend to have higher optical prescriptions and may have reduced visual acuity or clarity even with the best prescription.

CARDS CROP 3 2

Vision therapy effectively treats amblyopia ("lazy eye") and strabismus ("cross-eyes") by teaching the brain and eyes to work together to correct the eye misalignment and thus achieve clear and comfortable vision.

CARDS CROP ADHD

Vision problems in children can produce a similar set of symptoms to those found in ADHD, such as difficulty focusing in school, tendency to fidget or squirm in their seats, and making careless mistakes.

CARDS CROP 5 1

It takes way more than physical strength and speed to be at the top of your game. Whether a child plays soccer, hockey, basketball, football or tennis, he or she needs excellent visual skills to excel in their sport.

CI has been shown to affect a child’s reading ability, attention, and overall school performance. Vision therapy can treat this condition thus leading to more success in school, work, and in sports.

Matthew was unable to wear a mask over his face. This seems to be the case for many of our patients with sensory difficulties or patients that have difficulty breathing with the mask.

We are grateful to one of our patient’s mother’s who donated face shields to provide alternative protection. This has proven to more acceptable to many of our patients as was the case with Matthew seen happily wearing his new shield.
