Dr. Tavia Doan is a board certified therapeutic optometrist. She grew up in Arlington where she attended the University of Texas at Arlington earning a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She has been interested in optometry ever since she joined an optometry club during her undergraduate studies by providing various vision care such as screening to underprivileged and underserved populations. To continue her pursuit in eye care, she began by working as a receptionist at an optometrist office, then moved on to technician work with the eventual hope of becoming an eye care practitioner.
Dr. Doan received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. She completed multiple internships in Puerto Rico and externships in the states which focused on full-scope management of ocular health including eye infection, ocular trauma, glaucoma, low vision, pediatrics, and vision therapy. Working at the clinical sites allowed her to hone her skills in her special areas of interest including contact lenses, refractive surgery, as well as diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
When not at work, Dr. Doan enjoys doing outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, tennis, and biking. She also loves to spend time with her family and friends.
